Oriental Texts

The ORIENTAL TEXTS series of acrylic paintings was part of several series of painting in which I tried to convey the chaotic world situation by presenting largely illegible texts. I created the ORIENTAL TEXTS series in 2023, when I was 94 years old. In each of the paintings in the current series, I presented one of the five Elements of Oriental philosophy: WOOD, FIRE, EARTH, METAL and WATER. I superimposed the symbol of each Element over an English text as well as over itself' I employed the ancient art of stenciling to create these paintings, using two stencils for each painting.
